Are You Right With God?

There are many questions that, if the response is wrong, it is not a big deal..."was I suppose to pick up 1 or 2 gallons of milk today?" On the other hand, if you are wrong about how to be right with God, it is a very big deal! To take it one step further, we are warned that "there is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death" (Proverbs 14:12). There are many people who say, "I'm okay; I'm a good person" or they will say, "I'm not worried, me and the Lord have worked things out." Did you know that the Bible says that "none are good, no, not one" and "all have sinned and fallen short..." (Romans 3:10-12, 23)? So much for being a "good person!" Please note John 14:6 where Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me" and Romans 1:16 where the Apostle Paul says, "I am not ashamed of the the gospel, for it (alone) is the power of God for salvation..." It is not true that someone can "work things out" with the Lord. Being right with God, knowing my sins are forgiven, becoming a Christian, being born again (all these are speaking of the same experience) depends on 3 basic things according to the Bible.

1. Man has a PROBLEM

As we have said earlier, we are not good and we are not okay! All men and women have sinned and fallen short. Psalm 51:5 tells us that we are "born into iniquity." We have a sin problem from birth; we commit sins because we have a sin nature; it is our nature to sin like it is the nature of a dog to bark. In order to be right with God we must first know that something is wrong with and in us: SIN! Romans 6:23 tells us, "for the wages of sin is death (eternal separation from God), but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

2. God has a PROVISION

Romans 5:8 states, "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet SINNERS, Christ died for us." The only provision for our sin problem is Jesus; He was born in order to die and rise again that our sins could be atoned for, and that He by coming into our life, we could have the power to live for the Lord instead of for ourselves. Many think that if they have enough good works then their sins will be overlooked by God. Jesus is God's only provision for our sins. Some think that church membership, giving, serving, etc., will cause God to be okay about our sin. No! Jesus is the ONLY provision for our sins.

3. God has a PROCEDURE

If Jesus is the only way (John 14:6) to be right with God, how does a person approach Christ and have Him deal with our sins? Romans 10:13 states, "Whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." This means that we go to Him in prayer and ask Christ to forgive us of our sins, to come into our lives, and make us one of His children.

You can do that right now if you would like to. You don't have to be in church to become a child of God! If you would like to talked about being right with God, please contact us at CCF; we would love to help to you as you seek Him in your life.
